Becoming a Paladin in Gothic 2

As a Paladin you will have access to the Knight and Paladin Armors, but first of all you will need to part of the Militia.

After returning from the Valley of Mines in chapter 2, you will find that Bennet has been arrested for the murder of Paladin Lothar. When you manage to free Bennet from prison, you will be able to ask Lord Hagen to accept you as a Paladin.

Now the next steps will require you to recover the Eye of Innos and enter the Monastery of the Fire Mages!
