Defeating the Undead Dragon in Gothic 2
The Undead Dragon is the final boss you will face in the island of Irdorath. This guide provides a straightforward strategy for defeating it.
Please note that after reaching Irdorath you cannot go back anymore, so make sure to complete all the other quests before you do this!

Useful equipment
Proper preparation is essential for this fight. Before heading to the dragon's lair, it is good to have the following:
- The Eye of Innos: You must have the repaired Eye of Innos amulet equipped. You cannot damage the dragon without it. Make sure it is charged.
- Bring a substantial number of healing potions. The dragon's attacks can cause significant damage quickly.
- Summoning scrolls like "Summon Demon" or "Summon Skeleton" can be helpful. The summoned creature will distract the dragon, allowing you to attack freely.
The fighting strategy
The encounter takes place in a large, dark cavern. The dragon will be in the center.
- Initiate the dialogue: Approach the dragon to start the conversation. Once the dialogue ends, the fight will begin immediately.
- Use a summon scroll: As soon as the fight starts, use a "Summon Demon" or other powerful summon scroll. The summoned creature will engage the dragon, drawing its attention.
- Attack from the side or rear: While the dragon is focused on your summoned ally, position yourself at its side or behind it. This will protect you from its primary frontal attacks, including its breath attack.
- Unleash attacks: Attack the dragon relentlessly while it is distracted.
- Keep an eye on your health bar. If the dragon turns its attention to you, be prepared to dodge and use healing potions as needed. If your summoned creature is defeated, you can summon another one
If you are not using summoned creatures as a distraction, do your best to parry the dragon attacks. When you stand close to him, he might use a fire spit attack that wiill knock you back, so try moving backwards to avoid that. In case you are attacking from a distance, you can move sideways to avoid the dragon's fireballs.

After the fight
Once the Undead Dragon is defeated, the game is pretty much finished. You can go back to the ship and talk to the captain. The ending clip will play, and the game will be over! Good job!
