Finding Raven in Gothic 2 NOTR
While venturing into the expanded world of Gothic 2: Night of the Raven, the quest to find Raven will be your main goal. He is located in Jharkendar, and reaching him requires completing a series of quests.

If you do not like to struggle too much with this part of the game, I advise you to start the Jharkendar storyline after reaching Chapter 2 or 3, and after becoming a Paladin or a Dragon Hunter, so you will have a decent equipment and good skills. Keep in mind that Jharkendar will be generally more difficult than Khorinis.
Initiating the 'Missing People' Quest
To find Raven you will start in the city of Khorinis, with the "Missing People" questline:
- Speak with Vatras: Find the Water Mage, Vatras, who can usually be found preaching in the temple square of Khorinis. Engage him in conversation and inquire about the recent disappearances of citizens. He will express his concerns and enlist your help in the investigation.
- Follow the clues: Vatras will direct you to speak with various NPCs around the city who have been affected by the disappearances. A crucial lead will point you towards the city's criminal underworld and a bandit leader named Dexter.
- The letter from Dexter: Your investigation will eventually lead you to a confrontation with Dexter, who is hiding out with his gang of bandits close to Onar's Farm, at the lighthouse. After defeating him, be sure to loot his body and read the letter you find. This letter is a key piece of evidence, as it reveals that Raven is behind the abductions and is located in the ancient land of Jharkendar.
Gaining access to Jharkendar
With proof of Raven's involvement, you can now seek assistance from the Water Mages to reach the new continent.
- Return to Vatras: Present the letter to Vatras. This will convince him and the other Water Mages of the urgency of the situation. They will agree to open a portal to Jharkendar to pursue Raven and rescue the missing people.
- The Portal: The Water Mages will convene at an ancient stone circle near the tavern "The Dead Harpy" Follow them there and witness the ritual that opens the portal to Jharkendar. Step through to begin the next chapter of your hunt.
The swamp
Upon arriving in Jharkendar, you'll find yourself in a lush but dangerous new environment. Your primary objective is to locate the bandit camp, as this is where Raven has established his base of operations.
The bandit camp is situated deep within the swamp, a dangerous place full of enemies. Be advised that Bandits will attack you unless you wear a Bandit Armor.
To move freely within the bandit camp and gather information, you will need to acquire the mentioned bandit armor. This will allow you to blend in and avoid unnecessary conflict. You can obtain this armor through some quests and interactions within the pirate camp, which is another faction present in Jharkendar.
Once inside the bandit camp, you will learn that Raven has taken refuge within the ancient Temple of Adanos, located at the heart of the swamp. You will not be able to access this area immediately, as you first need to convince Thorus, our old friend from Gothic 1, to let you inside.
The final confrontation in the Temple of Adanos
The Temple of Adanos is the final leg of your journey to find Raven. Be prepared for a series of challenges before you can face him.
- Initial encounter: As you approach the temple, you will have a brief encounter with Raven, who will taunt you before disappearing inside, sealing the entrance behind him.
- Solving the Temple's puzzles: To gain access to the inner sanctum where Raven awaits, you must solve a series of ancient puzzles and traps left behind by the temple's builders.
- The battle with Raven: Deep within the Temple of Adanos, you will finally come face-to-face with Raven for the final battle. He is a powerful foe, so be sure to come prepared with your best equipment and skills.
If you have troubles defeating him, consider using some Ice Block spells as I did in my gameplay.
After dealing with Raven, the main questline of the expansion will be completed. Of course you can still explore the map and do other side quests!
